PERFECT meal last night with L & L. i love how birthdays can last weeks after the actual date ... i feel so lucky.
i made a mistake. i bought a bag of candy corn and have put it in a swish silver reed & barton bowl and placed it lovingly on the kitchen table. after i finished off my homemade granola this morning i dipped into the bowl and took out one slightly broken piece of candy corn and popped it in my mouth ... i was only trying to restore the bowl to perfection by removing the offending 1/2 corn. then i started to see other candy corn fragments and had to remove them ... and eat them. now i've had about 27 of those devilish things.
i would love to buy one of these and just see how goes ... even though my thumb is only slightly celadon, the how-to instructions on their website are very encouraging.
why put a trimming on something? some say; why not? i feel that you can't just throw any old trimming on any old thing. it must just be the natural frill and flair that carry off a vibrant mission in service to the greater good. it really just depends.
ruby press gave me a glimpse of fendi's spring 2010 collection and i felt compelled to see the whole line.
it's energizing and defeating and astonishing to uncover all those other people (i guess i'm specifically talking about bloggers) out there.
korea town, fabulous building from a long-ago los angeles, furnished with only the most perfect pieces, a well-curated art collection, and a fabulous vibe of glorious girls nights out.
flowers (merci rd, brad & anna, & brenda!), cars (merci rd!), puppies, wallets (merci mom!), bracelets (merci liz 1!), gardening supplies and beautiful lotions and potions (merci mes petite amies!), cupcakes (merci asuka!), sweater and clutch (merci lulu!), and all topped off with a plate of truffle-covered pasta from capo. an embarrassment of riches for my 28th.
i love the look of an upholstered bench pulled up to a dining room table. as part of the portland loot, i got a danish bench with glorious casters. looking forward to recovering and pulling up to our table ...
love these works by charlotte mann.
the time finally came. my brother gave me his old 2g, jesse helped me unlock it, and everything is running smoothly ...
I think I'm a little slow on this, but I just found out about Lonny Magazine. It's an online shelter mag in the vein of Domino! (Thank you Coco+Kelly for the tip and photo!)
ross always says that bus stops depress him. i wonder if these could change his mind? (found via black eiffel who found them through urlesque)
even though it's sunny today, i'm desperate for cozyness and plaids and fireplaces and slippers and and and ... (images from all over. ralph lauren, steven alan, apartment therapy, coco&kelly, ...)
found these images on apartment therapy. who couldn't use a little floral pick-me-up today (daisy in an ice cream cone)?!
my version is a bit strange, a little heavy, and unattractive looking ... but it seems to taste great.
her illustrations are a fantasy-land of parisian croissants, lip-stains, lace, and bon bons. i visit that land sometimes ...
didn't get to see them friday night ... the tickets were being scalped for too much ... but i'm happy to listen to them jam while i run.
the buzz was deserved ... the impact of the space alone got me in a tizzy. (all images plucked from their blog)
enjoyed the article on Duchamp's Etant donnés in the Arts & Books section of the LA Times this morning. I love how the peepholes have had such use that the markings of all the spectators are now part of the Spanish door's patina.
stopped by after a brief visit to sunday's farmer's market. scored a 20 min. meter in front of the post office. neat space. was it designed by spacecraft? they are all over hollywood. all over.
rag & bone won. though a.p.c. came close ... but at over $200 more expensive, i'm happy with how it all turned out.
i was just reminded of this song by mad men. it's from sex and lucia which is a dreamy and sad movie ...
jocelyn and cortney's wedding was lovely and amazing. her graphic design touches were everywhere and so perfect ... my orange dress also matched everything ...
made slight progress in my move to fall plantings. herewith, the resulting lettuce / laitue / lechuga / kopfsalat / lattuga / sad + lopsided boxwood
season 3, episode 3, "my old kentucky home." brilliant. loved when peggy olsen declares "i'm in a VERY good place right now."
despite the heat, the dawning of september makes me think of fall which makes me think of cozy which makes me think of blankets. i would love a vintage orange hermes throw but would be delighted by a hudson's bay point blanket ... total classic.
call me an exhibitionist, but i like glass doors. ones that lead to closets, ones that lead to bathrooms, ones that lead to offices ... i just like the feeling of transparency within privacy.
